Our History

Established in July 1989, SWAN has always been a women's centre but we set out to provide health information and advice to women . Since then, we have grown and diversified the services that we do however, our aim to support local women remains that same.

In 2023, we are now a women and teenage girls mental health and wellbeing charity. We work with women and girls aged 13+ years, who experience anxiety, depression, stress, isolation or other mental health issues. We do this  by providing services such as Counselling ,  Befriending, Support groups and a wide range of activities that improve wellbeing and help to improve your life chances.

We have a team of 11 employees and over 80 volunteers. Our Volunteers are at the heart of everything that we do and without whom we could not provide the breadth of services that we do.

Our Mission Statement

To support and empower women and teenage girls to improve their mental health and wellbeing.

Our Values

Providing services and support that make a positive difference to women and girls mental well-being and to enhance life opportunities for women and girls who are disadvantaged by poverty, mental illness, age or social exclusion.
