Our History

SWAN WOMEN'S CENTRE has been delivering services in this community for over 30 years ago. In the beginning SWAN was set up by local women to provide health information and advice, as it effected women specifically.  We have expanded the services that we provide as the need for trauma informed and gender specific mental health services has grown.

We work with women and girls aged 13+, who experience anxiety depression,  isolation or loneliness.   We do this  by providing services such as Free Counselling ,  Befriending, Advocacy, Support and Information. We also provide Work shops to help build confidence and resilience, Counsellor led Support groups and Peer Support groups, Legal Advice, Food vouchers,  Mindfulness, Yoga, Holistic Therapies and a wide range of other activities that aim to empower and help women and girls to improve their mental health and wellbeing.

We have a team of 10 employees and over 80 volunteers. Our Volunteers are at the heart of everything that we do and without whom we could not provide the breadth of services that we do.
