SWAN Women’s Centre is a registered charity which employs 10 members of staff and has a team of approximately 40 volunteers and 40 Trainee Counsellors. We also have a small number of self- employed holistic therapists. We provide mental health services from Litherland and Southport offices working with women and teenage girls from aged 13 years+.
The organisation’s activities are focused on enhancing the lives and improving the mental health of teenage girls and women by providing early intervention and mental health support.
Job Purpose: Your Mind Matters is an established project within the centre and this is our 4th year delivering support to teenagers and young women who are struggling with their mental health. This year we are working with 13 – 25 year olds and we are now setting up a support group for our younger clients.
The poster holder will be based in our Litherland Women’s Centre. The successful applicant will work with individual clients and provide mental health advice, support, activities and signposting. You may also facilitate a support group for those who access the service. This is not a counselling service but you will be expected to deliver face to face mental health support sessions.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities You will be required to: Set up and facilitate a support group, as requested. Manage referrals for clients. Liaise with 3rd party referrers. Arrange initial assessments for clients. Develop action plans alongside clients, as required. Contribute to monitoring reports as required by funder. Keep all monitoring information up to date Ensure young women are seen in a timely manner. Manage waiting lists effectively. Update and maintain a confidential database for clients. Attend staff meetings and board meetings as requested Share expertise and learning with members of the wider team. Represent the centre at external meetings Network with other organisations. To be aware of and adhere to the centres policies. Adhere to professional guidelines and work within ethical framework of as required. Any other task commensurate with position.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
ESSENTIAL/ DESIRABLE
E - Qualified Counsellor (Diploma or Degree) or Qualified Mental Health Practitioner
D- Experience of working with young women aged 13+ E
Experience of solution focus practice
E Understanding of activities that improve mental health
E Knowledge and Experience of Trauma Informed Practice
D Experience of delivering projects effectively.
E Experience of working as part of a team

2. Job Title: Bloom Forward Wellbeing Facilitator (2 Posts)
Location: SWAN Women's Centre, Linacre Road, Litherland, Sefton
Hours: 5 Hours per Week
Salary: £15.50 per Hour
Contract: Fixed Term (12 Months, Subject to Funding)

Project: Bloom Forward
Purpose of the Role
The Bloom Forward Wellbeing Facilitator will support the delivery of a preventative mental health and wellbeing programme for young women aged 18–30, including those who identify as neurodivergent. The post holder will facilitate group activities, provide emotional support, promote resilience and wellbeing, and help participants develop confidence, self-esteem and positive coping strategies.
The role aims to reduce social isolation, improve emotional wellbeing and support young women to access appropriate services and opportunities that enhance their health and life outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Delivery
• Plan, prepare and deliver weekly Bloom Forward group sessions and workshops.
• Facilitate activity-based wellbeing sessions including mindfulness, journaling, creative activities, vision-board workshops and confidence-building exercises.
• Create a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment where participants feel respected, valued and able to share their experiences.
• Encourage participation, peer support and positive social connections among attendees.
• Support participants to identify personal strengths, goals and practical strategies for maintaining positive mental health.
Participant Support
• Provide one-to-one wellbeing support where appropriate.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with participants.
• Support young women experiencing challenges relating to anxiety, low mood, confidence, self-esteem, social isolation, education, employment or relationships.
• Signpost and refer participants to appropriate internal and external services where additional support is required.
• Promote a person-centred, strengths-based and trauma-informed approach to support.
Project Development and Community Engagement
• Assist in promoting the Bloom Forward project within local communities and partner organisations.
• Support outreach activities to encourage participation from young women who may face barriers to accessing support.
• Contribute to the development of resources, activities and materials that support emotional resilience and wellbeing.
• Help ensure the project remains inclusive and responsive to the needs of participants.
Monitoring and Evaluation
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, engagement and support provided.
• Collect participant feedback, outcome measures and case studies.
• Contribute to monitoring and evaluation reports required by funders.
• Support the measurement of project outcomes, including improvements in wellbeing, confidence, resilience and social connectedness.
Safeguarding and Compliance
• Follow all SWAN Women's Centre policies and procedures, including safeguarding, confidentiality, health and safety, equality and diversity.
• Recognise, report and appropriately respond to safeguarding concerns.
• Maintain professional boundaries and uphold the values and reputation of SWAN Women's Centre.
• Attend supervision, training and team meetings as required.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
• Experience working with young people or adults in a support, community, wellbeing, mental health or voluntary sector setting.
• Understanding of mental health and wellbeing issues affecting young women.
• Knowledge of approaches that promote emotional resilience, confidence and self-esteem.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to facilitate small groups and encourage participation.
• Ability to build trusting and professional relationships.
• Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality requirements.
• Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Criteria
• Experience delivering wellbeing, mental health or community-based projects.
• Knowledge of neurodiversity and inclusive practice.
• Qualification in health and social care, youth work, counselling, community development, mental health, psychology or a related field.
• Experience of monitoring outcomes and completing project reports.
Special Requirements
• Enhanced DBS Check.
• Ability to work occasional evenings to support participants who are in education, training or employment.
