SWAN Women’s Centre is a teenage girls and women’s mental health charity that has been delivering services for over 30 years. The women’s centre is based in Litherland and we have offices in Southport too. We currently employ 8 members of staff but our team is also made up of approximately 70 volunteers too. The organisation’s activities are focused on enhancing women and girl’s mental health and wellbeing.

 We are seeking two professionals to work together on delivering this brand new and exciting young women’s mental health support project.

 You will work as a team to support young women aged 16 – 25 years during what can be challenging years. You will be based initially in the Litherland centre but we may extend the service to Southport.

Teenage Girls Counselling Service (13-18 years)  15 hours per week

               Salary £10,140 per annum (equivalent FT salary £23,660)

               (This is initially a 6 month post until we confirm future funding)

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Counsellor to lead our small team of teenage girl’s volunteer counsellors. You will need to be very organised and have excellent administration skills as there are a number of activities associated with this post. You will also hold a small case load. You will be a key member of a very busy counselling service and you will report to the Counselling Manager.  You will be based between the Litherland centre and Southport.

We have a vacancy for a proactive, outgoing and organised person with a passion for volunteering to join our team. In this role you will recruit and manage volunteers for our reception area and those providing activities within the centre as well as having overall responsibility for communicating with all of our volunteers.

There will be opportunities to organise and deliver promotional and volunteer recruitment activities, and you will manage volunteer applications, interviews and induction. It’s important that volunteers have a great experience with SWAN Women’s Centre so you will ensure they feel supported and valued throughout their time with us.

Applicants should have relevant professional or personal experience of volunteering and have an understanding of the positive impact that volunteering can have on the individual and the organisation.

You should be confident in using social media, developing marketing materials, speaking to volunteers, delivering presentations and developing networks. Attention to detail is a key skill and you will maintain excellent records using our bespoke database (for which we provide training). Great interpersonal skills, flexibility and a positive attitude are important.
